OUR HISTORY
During the 1950’s/60s, Doveton was a suburb with many new Australian settlers. Most of them came from England and Europe and brought with them a love of Soccer.
Looking for somewhere local for their children to play, a small group of parents formed what is now known as Doveton Soccer Club on 22 January 1967. After approaching Council, they were allocated a site alongside Eumemmerring Creek, Waratah Reserve.
Doveton Soccer Club joined the V.S.F and entered its first junior teams to pay in 1967. In 1968 Doveton entered two senior teams into the District League, with one team playing in East and the other in Central, but withdrew these teams for the 1969 season. Doveton re-entered a Seniors team to lay in the District East League in 1970.
With the emergence of local talented players, and strong local support, Doveton would continue to grow over the following 12 years. Doveton went on to win three leagues and be promoted a further three times to reach the pinnacle of soccer successi in Victoria, becoming the first team in Dandenong regon to play in the State League in 1981.
In 1984, Doveton was relegated for the first time, and in 1990 became the first team to be promoted to the newly formed Premier League.
The next seven years proved to be challenging with Doveton ending up in Provisional League Division Two South East in 1998.
